Citizen Science for Global Health
Dear Geminae partners,
UNITA Alliance is pleased to announce the launch of the online course “Citizen Science for Global Health”, organised by the SPHERE project (Spreading Global Health Citizen Science Research Methodologies for UNITA), funded under the UNITA Starting Grants call.
The course includes 10 free lessons, delivered on a biweekly basis, with international speakers who have extensive experience in the field of Citizen Science (CS), and will run from February to June 2026.
The aim of the course is to introduce participants to citizen science as an innovative research methodology, with a particular focus on its application in the field of Global Health.
The main objectives of the course include:
– training on the fundamentals of citizen science and its applications in Global Health contexts;
– in-depth exploration of an emerging, high-impact research methodology;
– award of a digital Open Badge, issued by BESTR, upon successful completion of the course.
Who can join the course?
The course is open to the UNITA and Geminae academic community, including:
- Master, Professional Degree and PhD students
- Researchers and teaching staff
- Technical and administrative staff
Participants who attend at least 6 of the 10 sessions and complete the required activities will receive a digital Open Badge issued by BESTR, certifying their competencies in Citizen Science and Global Health.
The initiative aims to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, increase research impact, and promote meaningful social change through participatory approaches to global health research.
Registration and information
Applications must be submitted via this Google Form. It is also possible to attend individual sessions without obtaining the Open Badge.
The language of instruction is English.
